MAYODAN — A church that was being investigated by the N.C. Board of Elections has filed finance reports with Rockingham County and may continue its efforts to oppose liquor by the drink.²

The current probes were sparked by a May 15 elections board hearing in which investigators said they developed evidence that Wright had failed to report campaign contributions and expenses. They also presented a letter written in 2002 by a state health official that awarded what investigators said was a bogus $150,000 grant to a foundation Wright controlled.⁷
