In 2000, she was chosen as the chair of the Arizona delegation to the Republican National Convention. She serves on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations, including CARE, Operation Smile and HALO Trust.[3] McCain also led medical missions to developing and war-torn countries during the American Voluntary Medical Team's seven-year existence.
